Here's what women in the past accomplished throughout history during the month of November
- DECEMBER 23, 1867: Sarah “Madam C. J.” Walker is born on this day in 1867; she would later become an entrepreneur, philanthropist, and first black female self-made millionaire.
- DECEMBER 14, 1897: Margaret Chase Smith is born on this day in 1897; she would later become the first woman elected to both houses of Congress.
- DECEMBER 6, 1927: Patsy Mink is born on this day in 1927; she would later become the first Asian-American woman elected to Congress.
- DECEMBER 1, 1955: Civil rights leader Rosa Parks is arrested on this day in 1955 in Montgomery, Alabama, kicking off the Montgomery bus boycotts.
