How Katch Skills and WPLN Are Helping Women Turn Experience into Proof
Women’s Public Leadership Network (WPLN) is excited to further equip women for leadership through our new partnership with Katch Skills, the platform that turns everyday learning into skills that fuel growth—for people, teams, and programs.
In our recent webinar, Katch Skills CEO Laura Maristany joined WPLN Founder & President Larissa Martinez to explore how making skills visible helps amplify women’s superpowers—whether they’re running for office, leading in their current roles, or making the case for their next career boost.
Through WPLN’s partnership with Katch Skills, women in the WPLN network receive free access to Katch Skills profiles, giving them a practical tool to document, own, and elevate their leadership strengths.
Skills as the Currency of Opportunity.
Laura emphasized that the traditional way we showcase our qualifications, through job titles and degrees, often doesn’t tell the full story. Katch Skills flips this model by focusing on real-time learning and action. As Laura noted, "If skills are going to be the currency of opportunity, then we deserve a system that lets us keep those receipts without it being complicated and burdensome." By capturing the briefings you lead, the coalitions you build, and the policies you shape, Katch helps you translate your day-to-day efforts into a living skills profile that reflects your true capacity as a leader.
Keeping the Receipts of Your Leadership.
A "skills receipt" is tangible proof that learning and leadership happened. Through our partnership, WPLN members can scan QR codes at our in-person events and virtual trainings to automatically log their participation as verified growth. These “receipts” are then translated into professional descriptions that women in our networks can use to strengthen their resumes and develop a stronger narrative for their personal brand. This is especially vital for women transitioning into public leadership from diverse civic and professional backgrounds, who need to translate their unique experiences into a story that resonates with voters and constituents.
Fighting Imposter Syndrome with Data.
One of the most powerful aspects of this platform is its ability to combat the "Confidence Gap." By tracking your growth with Katch Skills, you create a baseline of your distinctive strengths and identify areas for further development. Laura highlighted that these receipts and badges serve as a critical reminder of your preparation; when you feel like you aren't ready for a role, your log provides the proof of why you are. Whether you are prepping for a job interview or a campaign trail, having these talking points ready ensures you can confidently answer the question: "How do you know what you know?
