Here's what women in the past accomplished throughout history during the month of November
- NOVEMBER 18, 1787: Abolitionist and women's right activist Sojourner Truth is born on this day in 1787.
- NOVEMBER 12, 1815: Suffragist leader Elizabeth Cady Stanton is born on this day in 1815.
- NOVEMBER 26, 1832: Mary Walker is born on this day in 1832; she would later win the Congressional Medal of Honor for her services in the American Civil War, and she is still the only woman to receive the Medal of Honor.
- NOVEMBER 29, 1875: Nellie Tayloe Ross is born on this day in 1875; she would later become the first woman governor in 1925 when she was elected governor of Wyoming.
- NOVEMBER 18, 1945: Wilma Mankiller is born on this day in 1945; she would in 1985 become the first woman to lead a Native tribe when she was elected to serve as chief of the Cherokee Nation.
- NOVEMBER 14, 1954: Condoleezza Rice is born on this day in 1954; she would in 2005 become the first black woman and the second woman to serve as U.S. Secretary of State.
- NOVEMBER 5, 1968: Shirley Chisolm became the first black woman elected to Congress on this day in 1968.
