Women’s Public Leadership Network (WPLN) is featuring stories from mothers seeking or serving in public office to celebrate Mother’s Day. WPLN's Director of Development, Maureen McInerney, interviewed Tamika Hamilton, former candidate for Congress in California’s 6th Congressional District.
Tamika Hamilton is a sought-after and emerging thought leader, media surrogate, and former Republican nominee for Congress. Before entering politics, Hamilton served in the Air Force on active duty for over 14 years & is now a reservist. She also deployed twice to the Middle East in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, the United States Global War on Terror.
Currently, Hamilton serves as Co-Chair for California Maggie’s List, a non-profit organization dedicated to electing women to federal public office. In her role she is responsible for candidate recruitment and the development of electoral strategy. She has a passion for empowering women and spends her spare time volunteering at her local church and supporting veterans in transition.
Hamilton and her husband, Ray, also a veteran and California peace officer, live in Dixon with their children. She credits her grandmother and a strong community for instilling in her the values that have led to her success.
