The month of March is Women’s History Month, and every year on March 8, we celebrate International Women’s Day to recognize women and their contributions and achievements throughout history.
People, organizations, and countries around the world celebrate the day differently.
One way to celebrate is by learning more about women’s accomplishments by checking out TIME magazine’s 100 Women of the Year project.
In the past, men have almost always received the annual honor, so this project is “an exercise in looking at the ways in which women held power due to systemic inequality.” The magazine created 89 new TIME covers (in addition to the preexisting 11 covers of women) to honor a woman as Woman of the Year for every year since 1920.
Are you celebrating the day? If so, how?
